HELENA, Today – In the capitol rotunda full of enthusiastic supporters, Republican Candidate for Governor, Ken Miller, announced Bill Gallagher as his choice for running mate as Lieutenant Governor.

“Montana tax payers are going to get their money’s worth from of a Lieutenant Governor for a change,” explained Miller to his supporters at a press conference and rally called for the announcement.

“Bill Gallagher’s resume and background reflect Montana’s own core economic strengths, including agriculture, energy, tourism, mining and timber. These, along with his experience in the law, education, insurance and securities -- in addition to his work ethic and love for Montana -- make him the perfect, effective addition to the Miller administration,” Miller told the crowd. Miller also praised Gallagher’s willingness to stand up and fight for Montana families and businesses.

The 52-year old Gallagher, currently a Public Service Commissioner, is a new-comer to the Montana political arena. In his first political foray, Gallagher soundly defeated incumbent Ken Toole to win his District -5 seat on the five-member Commission in 2010.

Gallagher told the crowd he is proud to represent the people of Montana and would be honored to serve as Miller’s running mate and Lieutenant Governor in Helena. “The Miller/Gallagher ticket gives voters both a clear alternative to the establishment and “good ole’ boy networks”, and a unique opportunity to send their message to Helena and the executive branch,” Gallagher told the enthusiastic supporters.

Gallagher’s work history starts as a mine mechanic and heavy equipment operator before he graduated from Western Montana College in Dillon, where he played football on a scholarship. Gallagher was a high school civics, government and history teacher and basketball coach in Plains, Montana. Since then, he has owned several businesses, including the Polson Days Inn, Club Wave Water Sport Rentals, Farm Bureau Insurance offices and a 125-acre alfalfa farm. Gallagher earned a Juris Doctorate in 2005 from the University of Montana School of Law, and maintained a private law practice in Helena working in the areas of estate, business and tax planning, private property rights, and utility law before his election to the PSC. Gallagher and his high school sweetheart, Jennifer, of 33 years, live in Helena, and have two grown children and three grandchildren.  Pictured above, from left:  Bill and Jennifer Gallagher, Kyndall, Ken, Peggy and Max Miller.
